Why is it some people think a SOUTHERN ACCENT sounds DUMB and SLO witted?

I love a GOOD SOUTHERN ACCENT. And don't ever KID YOURSELF that just because somebody talks with a drawl that their SLOW,,Bill Clinton is from ARKANSAS and THEY DON'T COME MUCH QUICKER AND "GLIBBER" than Him. And I'm a REPUBLICAN,All your great PREACHERS and speakers are usually SOUTHENERS. Especially that ARKANSAS,MISS,LOUISANA bunch.
