Is this a proper use of the infamous semicolon?

A semicolon can be used to join two complete sentences without a conjunction; however, purists contend that both those sentences should be declarative. Since both your friend's sentences are interrogative, it would be better to write them as two or to join them with a comma and "or," as you suggested.
