Which one of these stories sounds the best?
The second one sounds a bit weak and formulaic. The first one could have lots of emotional and characterful layers to it due to its denouement, therefore I am much more intrigued to see how that one unfolds (I presume you meant that the master wants the in to kill him, or help him die, which is intriguing - why? Does he believe he is evil or unworthy? Is he dying and hasn't the guts to commit suicide? Is he aware of some evil he could commit in future? Is he suffereing from guilt? And does the in go through with it? If so, why, or why not?). I'm not sure you'd have to make up a medieval world, though. It could easily be set in a real historical setting, but about fictional characters.
