Is it normal to get criticism and resentment from others when getting married?

yep i am engaged to my wife to be and we are both 24 and we are getting criticized and resentment thrown are way from family.friends,people we don't evan know and we just shrug it off because we are too madly in love with each other but we are both still in collage!!!
